Gathery
In this project, I collaborated with a team consisting of five people, where we succeeded to win a bronze medal in the International Youth Business Competition (IYBC) in the entrepreneurship category. Our team innovated a crowdsourcing-based application for cheaper logistics services to achieve the 8th point of the 2030 Indonesian SDGs, which promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
In Indonesia, e-commerce also supports the acceleration of achieving the 8th SDG point in 2030, namely, promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth. However, there is a problem with the e-commerce market in eastern Indonesia, where in most of these areas, the cost of e-commerce activities, such as shipping costs, is too expensive. While e-commerce has a large potential market in the eastern part of Indonesia, it accounts for at least 13.5% of all e-commerce transactions in Indonesia. Therefore, as a solution to these problems, Gathery can provide a service as an aggregator to help accelerate e-commerce customers from eastern Indonesia. By carrying out the concept of collective shipping, Gathery can provide an alternative to cheaper shipping services.
Our team conducted research using a qualitative descriptive method by examining the perspective of the people in Kendari City on digital transaction activities in e-commerce, especially focusing on shipping costs. And the results show that increasing the accessibility of e-commerce services by reducing shipping costs can affect people's interest in online shopping, which also affects the country's economic activity.
